[ This is also an interesting turnabout, but Bruce doesn't point that out. Luckily for Tony, Bruce isn't going to be nearly as long-winded as Tony was when he told him about all this. ]

Aldrich Killian owned AIM— Advanced Idea Mechanics. He invented Extremis, a gene therapy that allows the human body to instantly regenerate damaged tissue. It can go as far as regrowing severed limbs in a matter of seconds. He gathered a number of soldiers enhanced by this therapy under his command.
It's not an entirely stable system, though, so it didn't work for all of them. Some actually died. And by 'died' I mean basically exploded. To cover up those explosions, he hired this actor to pretend like he was a terrorist called Mandarin, and that the 'bombings' were his doing, while he went on with his plan to off the president. He had leverage over the vice-president, so he wanted him to take over the president's seat, while Killian pulled the strings and effectively gained power over the whole of the US government. Theoretically.

In the middle of all this, he had some kind of vendetta against you, because when his company was just getting started you refused to fund him and his research. So he kidnapped Pepper and subjected her to the treatment, thus infusing her with the Extremis.
You went to get her, and he locked you up too. He went off to set up some kind of grand spectacle in which the president was murdered on live TV, apparently by the Mandarin. You and Rhodes went on to end the whole thing. Rhodes managed to save the president, Killian started to fight you. He also had the Extremis, for the record.
You found Pepper in the meantime, but in the middle of the fight, she fell from some incredible height, and you thought she'd died. Pretty sure she thought she'd died too. But when Killian was about to end you, she showed up again and killed him.

[ Yeah he's not pulling any punches there. Tony appreciates honesty, right? ]

When she was here before, she still had the Extremis. She told me about this even before I knew about it back in our world. I went back home and went forward a little over a year, and you told me even more about the whole thing while I was there.
In the end you managed to get the Extremis out of her, though. Don't ask me how, you didn't get that far in your story. The whole point is that ended kind of well? Sort of.
Oh, you blew up all your suits at the time. All 40 of them. [ WEEP, TONY. ]

You know to lay low during all of this, right?

[ The text might seem to come out of nowhere, and to some extent, it's exactly that. Snake may not know Bruce that well, but he's aware of his role in what happened on Caducus Primary. That particular tragedy had been fresh when Snake first arrived on the Moira, so he'd heard a lot about it. He's not sure if some of the newer arrivals would be aware, but it's impossible not to think of Bruce now that this has come to bite them in the ass.

Again, Snake may not know Bruce well enough to have any idea of how he'll react to this turn of events, but regardless of what kind of person he is, the result can't be good.

Hence the unexpected check-in. ]

[ It is out of nowhere. It's also almost perfectly timed considering what Bruce has been mulling over since they received the message from the Caduceans, but it's not going to change much. Bruce's mind is practically made up at this point, and it's not going to be a person he barely knows as it is that's going to talk him out of it.

Hell, not even his closest friend would manage to dissuade him right now. ]

Right. I'll keep that in mind.

[ Lay low and what? Leave the problem he caused for other people to solve? Yeah, he doesn't think so. ]

I've got some faith in our ingenuity.

[ He's got faith in his own ingenuity, at any rate. If there's one thing he knows, it's that he's pulled himself out of impossible shit almost more times than he can count. Surely the future will be no exception. ]

Nice of her to come up with a totally innocuous secret Hulk-weapon, though. And here I was thinking about designing a Hulk-busting suit.

[ He doesn't know that's going to actually happen, of course. But he and Bruce were probably not very far away from pitching the idea and coming up with initial designs when Tony was plucked up by the Ingress. ]

[ Yeah, Bruce's got a lot more faith in Tony's ingenuity than his own, honestly. And he does know that the thing with Ultron is resolved in the end, but that still doesn't erase everything that happened. Whether it concerns him, everyone else on the team, or the rest of the world. ]

Oh, we're still working on that. You know me, I like to have a lot of options. So we've been developing some projects meant to either contain the Hulk or fight him. Whatever a situation might call for.

[ It's all said very lightly as if he's not talking about getting himself punched around or trapped in a tiny metal cage. Well, 'himself'. ]

[ Well, if that doesn't have dismissive written all over it.

Snake's aware that he isn't the best person to be tackling this conversation, but he also assumes that Bruce is already hearing it from those he calls friends. Which is why he's adding another opinion to the pile. The more people who tell him it's a dumb idea to turn himself over, the better. ]

I don't think it's just you that they want revenge on. They're pissed at the whole ship.

[ Tony matches Bruce's blitheness, because... well... this is just how they operate. ]

Huh. Spoilers.

[ As if the rest of that entire conversation wasn't already spoilers. ]

Good to know I was right about you being on board with the idea. I figured you would be, but Pepper made a face when I pitched the concept.

Tell me whenever you want me to stop, and I will.

[ Because Tony hasn't seemed particularly interested in not knowing about his future so far, just saying. ]

Then Pepper doesn't know me too well. Or didn't back then, anyway. [ They were really close friends while she was here, but that's a whole other thing entirely. ] It's still in its planning stages, and we're pretty far from even so much as having a prototype, but we're getting there. There's always the hope we might not need to use it at all, but... [ He shrugs. Better safe than sorry— and Thor isn't always around to go up against the Hulk if something happens.

There's a pause, then. ] We should build one here. If you're up for it.

[ Bruce is a master at both dismissive and sarcastic in a myriad of formats. It doesn't take voice to convey tone, and his bleeds through the typed up words more than clearly. ]

I know they are. They're grieving and I'm sure that's making them more irrational than they'd normally be. But sitting around and waiting for a battle to break out doesn't sit well with me, either.

I'm going to try to talk to them, at the very least. Just talk.

[ Call it a little white lie, just because he has a feeling Snake won't get off his case about this. And he also doesn't need someone telling on him to the rest of the team. ]

Yeah?

[ He actually seems surprised, like he hadn't imagined Bruce would want to pursue that little project here, of all places. But then... your Hulk problem doesn't go away just because you're relatively settled down. ]

Well you're not about to hear me say "no, let's not build an awesome, gigantic suit of Hulk-busting armor".

[ No, it doesn't, and he might be settled down but that doesn't make this place any safer. He's had a few instances where he genuinely worried that he'd get triggered, and one when he really was and it had catastrophic consequences, so a Hulk-busting armor isn't only an advantage, as far as Bruce's concerned it's a necessity. ]

I know. You seemed to be having plenty of fun back home. [ Said with an amused smile. His own issues aside, it was a pretty interesting project. And he's always appreciated how candid Tony is about his condition. ]

I still remember the design and some of the specs, so I'll put that together for you. It should be easy enough to pick back up where we left off in no time.

[ Snake speaks both dismissive and sarcastic, so it's really no surprise that he's picked up on the shade of the former even in a text conversation.

At least Bruce comes out with it after that, though Snake can already see the slippery slope forming here. ]

[ Snake doesn't know all the connections between Bruce and his team, so he doesn't really have any plans to tell on him, at least. ]

[ One quirked eyebrow and one smirk, possibly meant to make some of the genuine excitement. He'd never turn down a project like this; probably would've forged ahead even if Bruce weren't on board. The fact that he is just means the process will be that much more smooth and enjoyable. ]

I'm not in on all of the details. You were very thorough but also long-winded and I dozed off a couple of times. But I think Maya didn't know the full scope of the Extremis's side effects.
And yes, Pepper's fine. She had a bit of trouble learning to control it while she was here, but she was incredible. And back home that got sorted out soon after things settled down, so I can say with absolute certainty that she's alright.

Sorry. It sounds insane, I know, but it's what happened.
